Mayor Rusty Knox cut a ribbon to mark the dedication of the newly renovated historic Davidson School gymnasium Saturday, June 20. With him were town staff, several town commissioners and county commissioner Leigh Altman as well as representatives from the construction company Balfour Beatty. Residents then got to see the renovations up close and shoot a few baskets. Co-workers, family and friends and current and former Town Board members gathered to say farewell to Town Manager Jamie Justice. He's retiring June 30 after more than 10 years in the job. Also there were current and former town officials from surrounding communities, including Mooresville, Cornelius, Huntersville and Matthews. During the reception, Mayor Rusty Knox presented Justice with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. It's one of the top honors from the Governor of North Carolina, recognizing people for service to the state and their communities. Assistant Town Manager Austin Nantz will take over the job July 1. The @townofdavidson has finished a $4 million restoration of the historic Davidson School gymnasium. There's a dedication this Saturday morning.
