Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, was harvest day at Dover Vineyards, off U.S. 29 in Concord, N.C. We stopped by and had a brief chat with winemaker and owner Elizabeth Dover.
It was my first visit to the vineyard since 2016, when I watched Dover and her employees planting a new field. I profiled Dover then for Charlotte NPR station WFAE-FM.
Dover has been growing grapes on the farm since 2009. Her main varieties are a red – Chambourcin – and a white – Villard Blanc.
Here’s a brief video tour.
