Mooresville planning board considers big development on Lake Davidson

Neighbors are raising concerns about a proposal for a large mixed-use development on Lake Davidson in Mooresville, near the existing Davidson Pointe neighborhood. The plan by developer Hinckley Gauvain requires a rezoning, which is on the agenda at the Mooresville Planning Board Thursday, May 11, at 6pm.

They're staging an athletes-only Loch Norman Highland Games this weekend at Rural Hill in #HuntersvilleNC. I was honored to emcee the opening ceremony with bagpiping by Philip Diaz and a beautiful singing of "Flower of Scotland" by Jessica Bustamante, Rural Hills executive director. Then the games began, with events including the caber toss, stone put, hammer throw and sheaf toss. #scottishathletics #highlandgames #clt
This is a map of the Colonial Pipeline, which runs 5500 miles from Texas to New Jersey. Last August a section of the pipeline broke and spilled at least 1.2 million gallons of gasoline in a nature preserve east of downtown #HuntersvilleNC - the largest spill ever in NC and one of the largest in the US. Federal officials warned recently that similar leaks could happen elsewhere on the pipeline, and they're proposing to require the company to evaluate its risk detection systems and take other steps to prevent future spills.
