The Town of Davidson breaks ground Friday morning on a long-needed second fire station off Davidson-Concord Road, near the Beaver Dam historic site.

Commissioners approved a contract Oct. 11 with Pro Construction of Jacksonville, NC, to build the 5,500-square foot station on town-owned land. The board also approved borrowing $2 million for the project from BB&T.

The new fire station is needed to improve response times and provide service on the fast-growing east side of town.

Friday’s ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Parking is available at Beaver Dam, 19600 Davidson-Concord Road.
